Safe Births + Healthy Homes
Description
This collaboration addresses maternal and infant health in off-grid communities in Africa. It focuses on solar-electrification of health clinics, community education on solar lighting, and providing safe solar lights to new mothers for infant care. The collaboration, Safe Births + Healthy Homes, was forged when in 2019 when a District Health Officer (DHO) in the Kyankwanzi District of Uganda and a midwife worked with Let There Be Light International (LTBLI) and Solar Health Uganda to address maternal and infant health in rural, off-grid Uganda. At the time, LTBLI was funding the solar-electrification of last-mile health clinics and in a separate programme offering pico solar lights to new mothers to help with infant care. Recognising an opportunity for a scalable model, the DHO asked LTBLI to work with their office and a local midwife supported by SHU to co-create a new intervention, Safe Births + Healthy Homes. The programme includes: Solar-electrification of off-grid rural health clinics offering maternity services, Education outreach to the community and all stakeholders about the relative benefits of solar lighting over unsafe, nonrenewable biofuels, and the donation of a safe solar (Pico) light to all mothers who deliver at the participant clinics for infant care at home after the critical birth event.

Salud
Description
Description: This collaboration began as a way to share experiences among healthcare professionals using telemedicine technology to care for their patients. Initially, information was exchanged between projects in Argentina, Venezuela, and Colombia. Later, an effort was made to replicate in Bolivia the healthcare model of the UMANA organization (Argentina), which operates through a network of doctors and tools like a WhatsApp bot to provide low-cost services. Currently, the collaboration continues through direct connections among some members, although not all remain active. The attempt to implement the model in Bolivia has faced challenges, especially in forming a solid medical network, but the team is still exploring alternatives. Despite the difficulties, the exchange of methods has proven valuable and has inspired partial adaptations in other countries. The group has a WhatsApp chat with 13 members, although participation is currently low.

Seed to Mouth
Description
Food insecurity isn’t only about the seed or the consumer, but also the fragile collaboration and sustainability of processes to ensure that populations can produce, process and consume the food they need. This project aims to generate changes in the way social organisations, local governments and companies in the food sector operate. In the pilot phase, it seeks to generate new narratives of systemic action along with the transition of production/consumption in food systems. In its final version, the plan is to bring changes in the system of cultivation processing and consumption of food in Latin America. These changes aim to impact a system that generates high yields only for some and requires both medium and long-term interventions.

Seguridad Alimentaria

The Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs
Description
The Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs creates a global network where seasoned entrepreneurs share their wisdom, tackle challenges like succession, financial planning, and identity shifts, and support the next generation of change-makers. The Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs is building a supportive global network of social entrepreneurs where hard-won wisdom can be shared with one another and with those following in their footsteps. It is vital that ‘elders’ in this field share the experience, knowledge and wisdom they have cultivated over the years, as well as gaining support as they move through new stages in their career. The challenges they face can include succession or transition planning, financial provision for later life, a crisis of identity once they leave their organisation or the potential for mission drift within their organisation. Our aims are to build a supportive network of social entrepreneurs and change makers across the ecosystem, sharing the wisdom of elder Social Entrepreneurs to benefit each generation to come.

The Jena Declaration
Description
The Jena Declaration invites local sustainable change, mobilizing people globally for impactful outcomes. By assembling diverse signatories to encourage communities and governments to actively drive change in favor of sustainability. The UN Agenda 2030 with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is under a lot of pressure. Most experts share the view that humanity is on the way to miss it. The Jena Declaration is based on the conviction that the most important reason for this is, that the currently dominating strategy from the top is not reaching the most important partner for the needed societal transformation: the everyday people, the citizens of the planet. To reach them, The Jena Declaration calls for a new strategy to reach ways of living sustainably everywhere. Respecting cultural and regional specificity and aesthetics for dealing with nature, of nature that we are all part of, shall enable culturally and regionally differentiated pathways towards global sustainability. Integrating the arts and sciences can foster creativity and innovation, leading to sustainable solutions that resonate emotionally and intellectually with people. This holistic approach can inspire communities to engage with sustainability in a way that feels meaningful and joyful. By blending artistic expression with scientific knowledge, we can create a future that not only meets our needs but also nurtures our spirit and connection to the planet. Everyone is invited to join as a signatory here: https://www.thejenadeclaration.org/sign "In times of growing nationalism, there is no alternative to united, coordinated action in a global perspective of the citizens of the planet to ensure a sustainable futures!"
