Ana Gerlin Hernández Bonilla & The NUTRIVERSE (a better world through NUTRITION)
Ana Gerlin Hernández Bonilla is a visionary nutritionist and social innovator working at the intersection of public health, humanitarian action, creativity, food systems, social grastronomy. She holds a MSc in Public Health Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and brings over two decades of experience across global and complex contexts.
Ana has worked extensively with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at field, regional, and headquarters levels, contributing to nutrition, food security, and public health initiatives in fragile and humanitarian settings. Her work has focused on translating evidence into practice, strengthening systems, and supporting people-centered responses in contexts marked by inequality, crisis, and change. More recently, she has contributed to Social and Health Innovation at the World Health Organization (WHO), working within innovation hubs to explore new approaches to health, nutrition, and wellbeing (SIHI & WHO Innovation Hub)
Beyond institutional work, Ana’s practice is deeply interdisciplinary. She approaches nutrition not only as a technical field, but as a cultural, social, and creative act. An aspiring chef, forager, mixologist, and content creator, she uses flavour, storytelling, and artistic expression as tools for learning, connection, and transformation. Her work consistently challenges conventional narratives in nutrition by bringing forward curiosity, joy, and the voices and experiences that are often least expected.
Ana is the founder of The NUTRIVERSE, a hybrid platform created to reimagine nourishment as a universal, human, and shared experience. The NUTRIVERSE bridges science, food, art, and lived experience to create inclusive spaces where nutrition knowledge is explored, felt, questioned, and applied. It is built on the belief that meaningful change happens when people are engaged not only intellectually, but emotionally and creatively.
Through exhibitions, workshops, collaborative programs, digital content, and partnerships, The NUTRIVERSE translates credible nutrition science into accessible, inspiring, and actionable experiences. The platform embraces creativity, social gastronomy, and the power of the unexpected to open dialogue, build understanding, and foster more sustainable and equitable relationships with food. The NUTRIVERSE is on the way to be launched.
Ana collaborates with a wide network of organizations and initiatives, including the Social Gastronomy Movement (Global), MAD (Global), CuisineLab Geneva, Summit of Minds (Chamonix), AddictLab (Geneva/Belgium), SOP-KOKET (Sweden), and Ulew (Antigua, Guatemala). These collaborations reflect a shared commitment to innovation across agri-food systems, nutrition, culinary arts, and social impact.
The vision of The NUTRIVERSE is a future where the understanding - and living nutrition - not merely food -is transformative! nutrition knowledge is inclusive, creative, and actively used to support health, dignity, and planetary wellbeing. Its mission is to turn nourishment into a space of possibility — where science meets art, flavour meets purpose, and new narratives of hope and agency can emerge
