Independent (PAULINE MAKAISHE)

I am a purpose-driven Finance and Operations professional with over seven years of experience working at the intersection of financial strategy, donor engagement, and systems strengthening. My career spans both the NGO and private sectors, where I’ve led financial planning, grant management, and compliance for organizations operating across Africa. Most recently, I’ve managed over KES 100 million in multi-country transactions and supported strategic financial oversight at UNICAF University, a pan-African higher education institution. At the core of my work is a belief that finance is not just about numbers—it’s about equity, empowerment, and creating systems that work for people. I have worked closely with local NGOs and community-driven initiatives, helping them access and manage resources to deliver impact in education, health, and livelihoods. I am also passionate about creating enabling environments where grassroots changemakers can thrive without being limited by rigid and inequitable funding structures.

I hope to contribute my financial expertise, systems-thinking approach, and cross-sector experience to support Catalyst Now’s mission of creating a more equitable funding landscape. I bring a deep understanding of how current funding structures operate—and where they fall short for grassroots and systems-change actors. My goal is to help co-create strategic frameworks that unlock capital for social innovators, influence donor behaviors, and shift power to where impact is already happening.
