Independent (Stephen Ajuoga)

My name is Stephen Omondi Ajuoga, a Social Policy practitioner and public health program specialist passionate about advancing equitable, people-centered development across Africa. With extensive experience working in HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment under the USAID Tujenge Jamii Project, I specialize in designing, implementing, and strengthening community-driven health systems that ensure no one is left behind. My work spans HIV programs, mental health integration, adolescent health, aging with HIV, and community empowerment initiatives, particularly within rural and pastoralist contexts in Kenya. I am driven by a deep commitment to transforming how vulnerable communities access health and social services. Over the years, I have supported adolescents and young people living with HIV, strengthened psychosocial support structures, championed the U=U message through storytelling, and contributed to improving male engagement in HIV care through tailored groups such as OTZ Clubs and Men ART Clubs. My background in Sociology and advanced training in Social Policy has enabled me to understand the structural barriers that shape health and wellbeing and to translate evidence into meaningful interventions. Beyond health systems, I am increasingly engaged in philanthropy and social impact ecosystems, with a growing interest in corporate social responsibility, youth-led development, and inclusive innovation. I believe that social change requires multi-sector collaboration—bridging government, communities, civil society, and private sector actors. My work involves convening diverse stakeholders, leading program delivery, strengthening policy implementation, and applying behavioral science approaches to improve outcomes. Mission My mission is to strengthen community resilience and advance equitable social systems by championing inclusive policies, evidence-driven programs, and human-centered approaches that uplift marginalized populations. I strive to ensure that health and social development interventions are not only impactful but also sustainable, culturally responsive, and empowering to the people they serve. Vision My vision is a just, healthy, and socially inclusive Africa where communities—especially adolescents, women, men in patriarchal settings, and aging populations—have full access to quality health and social services. I envision an Africa where social policy is grounded in dignity, rights, and shared prosperity; where technology, innovation, and philanthropy accelerate development; and where every individual has the opportunity to thrive regardless of their background or circumstance. I aspire to contribute to building systems that eliminate health disparities, strengthen community voice, and enable transformative change at scale. My long-term vision is to collaborate with regional and global partners to drive impactful programs, strengthen policy frameworks, and foster a new generation of community-focused leadership.
