Youth Alliance for Environment (YAE): Main Activities and Strategic Leadership The Youth Alliance for Environment (YAE) is a dynamic Nepali NGO dedicated to advancing climate action, environmental sustainability, and social justice. It mobilizes young people, civil society, and local communities to address pressing climate and ecological challenges while ensuring that vulnerable groups are not left behind. YAE’s work spans policy advocacy, grassroots action, and global engagement, positioning it as a bridge between local realities and international climate agendas. Main Activities of YAE 1. Climate Action and Advocacy YAE promotes climate justice, adaptation, and mitigation through evidence-based advocacy. It contributes to national climate policies, raises awareness, and ensures youth voices are reflected in decision-making processes at local, national, and international levels. 2. Resilient Communities and Just Transition The organization supports initiatives that strengthen community resilience to climate shocks. This includes promoting nature-based solutions, sustainable livelihoods, and skills development, with special attention to marginalized groups such as women and indigenous communities. 3. Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building YAE equips young leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to drive environmental action. Through training programs, workshops, and mentorship, it nurtures a new generation of climate advocates and innovators. 4. Research and Knowledge Sharing YAE undertakes research on climate impacts, adaptation strategies, and sustainable practices. It shares findings through publications, dialogues, and collaborations, helping shape more inclusive and effective responses to the climate crisis. 5. International Collaboration and Networking YAE connects Nepal’s climate efforts to global forums such as Climate Week NYC, COP negotiations, and youth-led climate movements. By showcasing local innovations and challenges, it amplifies Nepal’s voice in global debates. As an Strategy Adviser, I am providing strategic guidance in strengthening YAE’s systems and expanding its reach, improving organizational governance, program design, and long-term sustainability. I am leading international coordination, building partnerships with global networks, foundations, and development partners to align YAE’s work with international climate priorities.

I bring 2.5 decades of experience working with government, UN agencies, international organizations, and the private sector in the governance and SDGs. Here I want to contribute systems thinking, youth-led climate advocacy, and my skills in fundraising, partnership building, and international coordination. I believe we must move beyond short-term campaigns and create initiatives that bring together like-minded organizations with sustainability plans that can be adapted and replicated elsewhere.
