Stray Safe Kerala (SSK)

Stray Safe Kerala (SSK) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to solving Kerala’s stray dog crisis through sustainable, compassionate, and collaborative action. We believe that every community deserves to feel safe—and that every street dog deserves dignity, care, and a chance at a healthy life. SSK works at the intersection of public health, animal welfare, and community education. Our mission is rooted in three pillars: Rabies Eradication, ABC (Animal Birth Control), and Awareness & Education. We focus on long-term solutions, not short-term fixes. We partner closely with local NGOs, veterinary teams, government bodies, and global supporters to implement humane and scientifically proven programs that make Kerala’s streets safer for both people and animals. This includes running and funding vaccination and sterilization drives (ABC), organizing public awareness campaigns about responsible dog care, and helping coordinate emergency rescues and adoptions. SSK also serves as a bridge between global donors and on-the-ground efforts in Kerala. Many generous individuals around the world want to help but don’t know where their contributions go. We provide transparent reporting, build trust, and ensure that funds are used responsibly to maximize impact—whether that’s vaccinating 100 dogs in a rural panchayat or providing post-operative care for rescued pups. We are not just a charity—we are a movement. Through social media, community events, educational workshops, and advocacy, we’re changing public perceptions of strays and advocating for peaceful coexistence. Our dream is a Kerala where no human lives in fear of rabies and no dog suffers on the street due to neglect or misinformation.
