Detainees Justice Action Collab

Half of Liberia’s 2,572 inmates are overcrowded in Monrovia Central Prison, lacking basic rights. This collaboration aims to create a pre-trial evidence-based database of detainees to prevent arbitrary detention and ensure fair trials for all. Half of Liberia’s 2,572 prison inmates are housed in Monrovia Central Prison and many lack access to basic human rights. Originally built for 374 detainees, overcrowding results in prisoners sleeping in shifts. This collab, which consists of a team of lawyers and data collectors (to be trained), aims to create a much needed pre-trial evidence-based database of detainees to guard against arbitrary detention. These and other related activities will help ensure detainees receive a fair trial.
