ELAS+ Doar Para Transformar

A pioneering initiative in the country, ELAS+ Giving for Change was founded by five lesbian activists from various social and cultural movements: feminist, women's, cultural, black women's, and LGBTQIA+ movements. Created with the purpose of promoting and influencing the Brazilian philanthropic ecosystem through feminist philanthropy, it strengthens civil society organizations led by cisgender, transgender, and other trans identities. Over 23 years of history, we have supported diverse women's organizations in Brazil and have been part of various feminist networks in the Global South and North. In this regard, both women's organizations and funds have influenced the UN and other multilateral organizations to recognize and inclusion of goals 5.1 and 5.2. Nevertheless, according to Forbes data (2023), Brazil is projected to take 131 years to achieve gender equality. As an institution and as social entrepreneur activists, we have been advocating for gender equity and women's rights for over 40 years. In this sense, we will continue to be engaged in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
