This session explores what it means to grow up amid rapid technological, social, and economic change. As young people face global challenges such as AI, climate change, and shifting notions of fairness and work, education remains rooted in outdated models of learning. Drawing on cognitive science and systems thinking, the session offers a candid assessment of where we are—and what must change for students to thrive.

Following the launch of the report “Key Competencies in Social Innovation Education,” this specialized session brings together educators, students and practitioners to explore how systems thinking and well-being competencies can be embedded into higher education. Through in-depth dialogue and case-based reflection, participants will examine current challenges, share transformative practices, and identify structural reforms needed to cultivate holistic, reflective learning environments that empower the next generation of changemakers.

– Educators in higher education involved in social innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship, or community engagement
– Social innovation practitioners and organizations that partner with universities or mentor students.
