ProPacifico / Compromiso Valle
ProPacífico is an independent, nonprofit organization led by 47 private-sector companies. We promote sustainable development in Colombia—especially in the Pacific region—by fostering partnerships that enable the identification, coordination, and management of initiatives that drive social progress, environmental sustainability, and economic development.
Our work is structured around four key dimensions:
1. Territorial Planning and Partnerships
2. Social Development (education, health, equity, inclusion, and safety)
3. Environmental Sustainability (water resource management and climate action)
4. Infrastructure and Logistics (urban mobility, rural transport, energy, and connectivity)
Over the past decade, ProPacífico has mobilized approximately USD $60 million in public, private, national, and international cooperation funding for regional development projects aligned with the SDGs.
Under our Social Development dimension, we lead Compromiso Valle, a collective impact initiative launched in 2021. ProPacífico acts as the backbone organization of this effort, which brings together citizens, grassroots leaders, companies, and foundations through active listening and direct dialogue to close social gaps across six strategic areas:
1. Food Security – over 2 million meals delivered and local farming networks strengthened
2. Life Project Transformation – 17,000+ youth supported and 9,000 community conflicts addressed
3. Youth Employability – over 3,800 jobs created for young people in the region
4. Entrepreneurship – 12,000+ entrepreneurs trained
5. Community Leadership – 100+ grassroots organizations strengthened and managing their own programs
6. Education – workforce training programs and school dropout prevention strategies implemented
Compromiso Valle has reached more than 77,000 individuals and is now being replicated in three other regions of Colombia through a knowledge transfer methodology. It is considered a pioneering social innovation model due to its strong results, inclusive approach, and community-driven impact.
