associação fotografia, solidariedade e obras sociais f/sos

F/SOS – Stories of Solidarity is a non-profit cultural association dedicated to photography as a tool for social, environmental, and human impact. Founded in Portugal, F/SOS supports photographers, visual artists, and storytellers working on long-term projects that address urgent global and local issues, including climate change, environmental protection, social justice, community resilience, and human rights. We believe photography is not only a medium for expression, but a language for empathy, awareness, and action. Our mission is to amplify voices that are often unheard and to create platforms where visual storytelling can generate dialogue, education, and tangible change. Through exhibitions, grants, public programs, educational initiatives, and international collaborations, F/SOS connects artists with communities, institutions, and audiences beyond traditional art spaces. F/SOS operates at the intersection of art, education, and activism. We work closely with cultural organizations, NGOs, schools, municipalities, and international partners to ensure that photography reaches diverse publics and remains accessible, inclusive, and socially engaged. Sustainability, ethical practice, and collaboration are core values embedded in all our projects. Our vision is a future where visual storytelling plays an active role in shaping more informed, compassionate, and responsible societies. By supporting artists at different stages of their careers and fostering cross-disciplinary exchange, F/SOS aims to build a growing international network committed to storytelling with purpose. Photography, for us, is not only about seeing the world, but about understanding it and taking responsibility for it.

We hope to contribute to the Catalyst Now movement by bringing visual storytelling into spaces where dialogue, collaboration, and action intersect. Through F/SOS, we work with photographers and artists who document social and environmental realities with depth, care, and long-term commitment. Our contribution lies in using photography not only to raise awareness, but to create shared understanding, emotional connection, and public engagement around complex issues such as climate justice, communi
