Independent (Maximilla Wandera)

I am a Nutrition Consultant and development practitioner with a strong background in public health, humanitarian programming and community development. My work sits at the intersection of nutrition, livelihoods and social impact. With a focus on designing and implementing sustainable interventions that improve health outcomes and resilience among vulnerable populations. I hold a Master of Science in Applied Human Nutrition and have over 10 years of experience working across NGOs, social enterprises and community initiatives in East Africa. My expertise includes public nutrition programming, nutrition therapy, food security, behavior change communication and program design and management. I have led and supported initiatives focused on maternal and child nutrition, youth empowerment and livelihood strengthening. Often integrating nutrition sensitive approaches into broader development programs. Currently, I work as a consultant providing nutrition advisory services, program design support and capacity building for organizations. I am particularly passionate about bridging the gap between knowledge and practice. While helping individuals, households and communities translate information into sustainable healthy behaviors. In addition to my nutrition work, I have a background in peacebuilding and youth engagement. I actively contribute to initiatives that promote positive peace, leadership and social cohesion. This multidisciplinary perspective allows me to approach development challenges holistically, recognizing the interconnectedness of health, economic stability and community well-being. I am driven by a commitment to impact, innovation and equity. I am especially interested in opportunities that leverage technology, partnerships and community systems to scale sustainable solutions in nutrition and development.

I’m motivated to join Catalyst Now for its focus on collaborative, systems solutions to complex challenges. My work in nutrition, livelihoods, and community development shows that real impact requires cross-sector partnerships. I bring experience in public nutrition, community engagement and behavior change to advance food security. I hope to learn, exchange ideas, and build collaborations that scale locally grounded, globally relevant solutions.
