TOMORROW IS A GIRL(TAG) INITIATIVE
Tomorrow is A Girl (TAG) Initiative is a youth-led, women-led non-governmental organization founded in 2018 and registered with Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2022. Based in Ebonyi State, TAG is a leading advocate for girls' rights and women's empowerment, implementing community-based programmes across Nigeria that promote education, health, gender equality, civic participation, and economic empowerment.
TAG was founded by Uzodimma Lucy Ogodo, a Medical Laboratory Scientist, public health specialist, and survivor of female genital mutilation (FGM). Her lived experience of FGM and gender-based educational denial inspired the creation of TAG to address the systemic barriers facing girls and women.
Our mission is to create a sustainable environment that enables the optimal growth and development of girls and empowers women through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Our vision is an Africa where every girl overcomes gender-based barriers, realizes her full potential, and positively impacts her community and the world.
TAG is guided by the values of honesty, integrity, equity, inclusion, and accountability. Our work focuses on three core pillars: Education, Health, and Rights. We primarily serve adolescent girls, young women, women, and marginalized communities, working closely with schools, traditional and religious leaders, community groups, and government institutions to drive sustainable social change.
Our impact has earned national and international recognition, including leading activities under the UN Joint Programme, the Movement for Good to End FGM, and being the only youth-led organization in Southeast Nigeria selected as one of six organizations nationwide to receive Plan International's 2024 Youth Support Fund.
