Collaborators
I was drawn to Catalyst Now because I believe that creating lasting social change requires more than good intentions or isolated interventions. It requires people who are willing to understand the systems behind the problems we see, challenge existing ways of doing things, and collaborate to build solutions that can endure.
As the founder of Moments with the Kween Community Initiative (MWTK), my work has always been driven by a deep desire to see young people discover purpose, develop character, build capacity and become agents of transformation in their communities. What began as a platform for young people has grown into a broader vision for creating environments where young people can be intentionally equipped to lead and contribute meaningfully to society.
Over time, however, I have become increasingly aware that transforming individuals is only part of the equation. The environments, narratives, institutions, social norms and opportunities surrounding people also shape who they become and what they are able to contribute. This has pushed my work increasingly towards the intersection of youth development, behavioural change, storytelling, leadership and systems change.
I applied to Catalyst Now because I wanted to be part of a community where I could learn from people approaching complex social challenges from different disciplines and contexts, particularly across the Global South. I was also excited by the possibility of contributing what I have learned through my own work while finding collaborators who can help me strengthen, test, evidence and scale the approaches I am developing.
Ultimately, I want to be part of a community that is not satisfied with simply responding to social problems, but is committed to changing the conditions that allow those problems to persist.
That is the kind of changemaker I want to become, and the kind of work I want MWTK and my broader body of work to contribute to.
