Bunyala Agri Climate Action Impact Solutions (BACAIS) is an innovative community-driven initiative that integrates sustainable agricultural practices, climate change resilience, and economic empowerment within rural farming communities in Bunyala, Kenya. By focusing on youth and women-led enterprises, the collaboration aims to promote climate-smart farming techniques, improve local food security, and contribute to sustainable economic development. The project emphasizes leveraging local resources, technology (including renewable energy and lysis technology), and capacity-building programs to create lasting impact in the community.
Key areas of focus include:
Sustainable Feed Production: BACAIS promotes the production of affordable, nutritious animal and aquaculture feeds using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae technology and organic waste processing.
Climate Resilience Building: Engaging farmers and communities in practices that enhance resilience to climate change, such as agroforestry, water conservation, and renewable energy for farming activities.
Youth and Women Empowerment: Training youth and women to become leaders in sustainable agriculture, offering them digital skills, agricultural entrepreneurship, and access to markets.
Renewable Energy Solutions: Introducing renewable energy solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of farming activities and improve energy efficiency in agricultural operations.
