Making the Financing Stack Fit for Purpose
“Is our current financing stack fit for the purpose of international social entrepreneurs and innovators?”
Many of us working to support the growth of social enterprises – from former social entrepreneurs, active mentors, angel investors and ecosystem builders – would suggest that it has not been. Processes built on risk mitigation, lengthy due diligence, and excessive reporting, divert much of the sector’s resources away from creating impact to serve administrators rather than entrepreneurs and beneficiaries.
However, there are people working to change this! In this session you’ll hear about emerging alternatives like Revenue Based Finance, due diligence syndication and crowdfunding-driven models, but more importantly, you are invited to join the discussion of how to make the funding – philanthropic or investment – better fit the needs of the social innovators, rather than forcing entrepreneurs to mold themselves to the needs of traditional (western) funding models. We invite anyone working on the challenge of making capital more fit for purpose to come and share what you’re working on or, if you’re a social innovator, what you need.
