Action Girls Africa (AGA)
Action Girls Africa (AGA) is a national, female-led, indigenous non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable and marginalized communities across South Sudan. Founded in 2016 and legally registered in January 2017 under No. 585, AGA was established in response to the growing needs of communities affected by conflict, poverty, displacement, and systemic inequality. The organization prioritizes the rights and wellbeing of children, adolescent girls, women, youth, and persons living with disabilities, particularly those facing humanitarian crises and limited access to essential services and opportunities.
AGA delivers integrated and innovative humanitarian and development programs designed to restore dignity, enhance self-reliance, and advance gender equality. Its interventions cover several thematic focus areas including Protection comprising child protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response, access to justice, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) as well as Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Education and Mentorship, Capacity Building and Economic Empowerment, Food Security and Livelihoods with emphasis on climate-smart agriculture, Peacebuilding, and Technology and Innovation.
Guided by a community-driven approach, AGA works closely with local structures, leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure inclusive participation and sustainable impact. The organization equips individuals with practical skills, mentorship, psychosocial support, and livelihood opportunities, enabling them to become agents of change in their communities. Through these efforts, AGA contributes to building safer, more equitable, and resilient societies where women and girls can thrive.
