Carifika Network for Sustainable Development
Carifika Network for Sustainable Development (CNSD) Nigeria is a registered non-governmental and non-profit organization, and a subsidiary of Carifika Global in Canada, dedicated to advancing holistic and inclusive development across Nigeria and Africa. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities, strengthen governance structures, and harness cultural diversity as a driver of sustainable peace, social harmony, and equitable prosperity. Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we work to ensure that no one is left behind.
CNSD’s vision is of a just, inclusive, and peaceful society where every child, woman, and community has equal opportunities to thrive. We believe that sustainable change comes from building the resilience of people and communities, promoting accountability in governance, and mobilizing partnerships for collective action.
Our work is multi-sectoral and covers thematic areas such as:
Health, Nutrition, and Wellbeing – improving access to health services, maternal and child health, nutrition, and WASH.
Education and Lifelong Learning – expanding access to inclusive and quality education for children, youth, and adults.
Peace-building and Conflict Resolution – fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and cultural preservation as tools for national cohesion.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) – empowering women, girls, and marginalized groups while addressing systemic barriers.
Climate Action and Sustainable Livelihoods – promoting environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture.
A unique aspect of CNSD’s approach is our social enterprise model, which integrates sustainability and innovation into our programming. Through social enterprise initiatives, we create pathways for economic empowerment, community resilience, and local ownership. For example, we support women and youth to develop small-scale enterprises, strengthen market access, and build capacity in green and digital economies. This approach not only reduces dependency on aid but also drives inclusive economic growth that benefits families and communities.
Our recent work demonstrates our commitment to advocacy and capacity-building. We have engaged in national policy dialogues on tax reform, climate change, and police accountability, while also building grassroots capacity in project management, gender mainstreaming, and procurement. Through partnerships such as the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Project, Africa Career Networks, and Potentialpark, we have delivered career development, leadership training, and professional growth opportunities to youth across Nigeria, Rwanda, Cameroon, and The Gambia.
CNSD operates nationally in Nigeria, with programmatic reach in Abuja, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, and Lagos States, and connects regionally through collaborations across East, West, and Southern Africa. Our approach is participatory, inclusive, and evidence-driven—ensuring that programs respond to community realities while influencing broader policies and investments.
At the heart of our work is the belief that strong families and empowered communities are the foundation of sustainable development. By integrating social enterprise with grassroots advocacy and policy influence, CNSD is building a future where all children can grow, learn, and thrive in environments that support their wellbeing and potential.
