Chamanculo é Vida

The central idea of my work with Chamanculo é Vida is to promote the valorisation of the peripheries as spaces of creative, historical and social power. We do this through cultural, educational and community actions that strengthen local identity, stimulate critical thinking and create spaces for active participation for those who live in these territories. The main social problem we try to solve is the invisibility and marginalisation of the peripheries in the city's urban, cultural and economic development processes. These neighbourhoods are often seen only as areas of deprivation, when in fact they have enormous human and cultural wealth. We want to counter this narrative, create opportunities and give a voice to the people who live in these neighbourhoods, especially women and young people on the periphery.
