Daughters of Virtue and Empowerment Initiative (DOVENET)

Daughters of Virtue and Empowerment Initiative (DOVENET); is a women-led non-profit organization working in Nigeria. The organization was established in year 2000 registered with CAC in the year 2005. Our vision is to see a society where all individuals are empowered to contribute towards growth and development irrespective of gender. Our mission to promote the all-round development and empowerment of women, young people and community members through training, capacity building, advocacy, strategic behavior changes communication and research to guarantee gender equality and equity towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goal of the organization is to empower women, young people, and community members to make them confident contributors to development. Our core values are centred on Professionalism, Accountability, Collaboration, Transparency and Team Work. Our primary targets are Women, children, young persons, and households, including community members. DOVENET's thematic areas are Maternal and Child Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Women Empowerment Program, Women & Girl Child Education, Gender/Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance, Peace Advocacy and Conflict Resolution, and Climate Change. In addition to these, DOVENET also holds a consultative status with United Nations ECOSOC since 2018. As an organization, we provide the following services: • Health Interventions: We promote maternal and child health, address Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), and encourage community participation in health activities. We promote access to family planning services for first-time adolescent mothers (FTAMs). We conduct social mobilization and awareness campaigns on malaria. We provide interventions focused on HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health & rights education. • Prevent Gender-Based Violence and Advocate for Rights of Women and Girls: Our initiatives focus on preventing gender-based violence and supporting survivors. We advocate for the rights of women and children, ensuring their voices are heard. • Skill Development and Support for the Physically Challenged: We facilitate skill development programs for women and youth in Nigeria. We empower physically challenged individuals with supportive aids and training for active participation in community activities. • Awareness Campaigns on Trafficking and Financial Assistance: We undertake awareness campaigns on child trafficking and human trafficking. We offer financial assistance to poor women and girls to prevent them from venturing into prostitution or human trafficking. • Promote Inclusion in Governance: We promote the inclusion of women and youth in democracy and governance initiatives. • Research and Peace Building: We conduct research on development issues and train individuals in peace-building skills for schools and universities. We encourage international friendships to promote world peace. • Implement Sustainable Development Goals: We pursue the implementation of SDGs 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 13, and 16.
