EcoRise South Sudan ERSS
EcoRise South Sudan (ERSS) is a woman-youth-led grassroots organization, founded in June 2024 and formally registered in May 2025 (RRC Registration No. 5927). We are established on the fundamental understanding that South Sudan's profound challenges are deeply intertwined. Sustainable peace cannot be achieved by addressing these issues in isolation; it requires an integrated, community-driven response that builds resilience across all fronts. Our approach is operationalized through five interconnected thematic pillars: Climate Resilience & Adaptation, Gender Equality & Social Inclusion, Digital Inclusion & Innovation, Livelihoods & Peacebuilding, and WASH & Child Protection. These are not standalone programmes but synergistic pathways toward our vision of a peaceful, inclusive South Sudan where communities drive their own transformative change. Our Theory of Change guides every intervention: by empowering women, youth, and marginalized groups as agents of change, ERSS catalyzes a virtuous cycle that leads to increased community resilience, enhanced social cohesion, improved economic security, strengthened rights and protection, and a bridged digital divide. Our work is driven by the belief that sustainable peace and development must be community-led, inclusive, and innovative.
EcoRise South Sudan is built on a lean, agile foundation of committed experts. Our current core team comprises seven full-time and three part-time professionals with expertise in community mobilisation, climate adaptation, gender programming, and peacebuilding. Our immediate organizational priority is to solidify this foundation by investing in a dedicated Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer and a Partnerships Manager within the next 18 months, ensuring our grassroots work is matched by robust evidence generation and strategic alliance building. Our communication serves two pillars: community accountability and systemic influence. Internally, we utilize participatory community forums and radio for transparency; externally, we leverage digital storytelling and policy briefs to translate community-identified needs into actionable policy dialogue. ERSS maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards harm, exploitation, and abuse, with a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct that explicitly prohibit sexual exploitation, child abuse, and all forms of harassment. All staff, partners, and representatives are mandatorily trained, and we enforce strict reporting procedures with safe, confidential complaint channels aligned with international humanitarian standards. Our vision is a peaceful, inclusive South Sudan where communities led by women, youth, and marginalized groups drive transformative change through climate resilience, digital empowerment, and lasting peace, and our mission is to empower these groups to lead integrated solutions at the intersection of climate adaptation, digital inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, and peace.
