Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC)

Fambidzanai works towards achieving a food-secure Zimbabwe that depends on sustainable land-based food systems (permaculture). The organization is registered under the Zimbabwe Institute of Permaculture (ZIP) as a local Private Voluntary Organization (PVO number 12/92) and is governed by a board of trustees. Since its inception, the Centre has paved the path for food, nutrient, and income security through sustainable land use management. Its development intervention is characterized by skills training in sustainable agricultural methodologies, demonstrating the ecological and economic viability of Agroecology and sustainable conservation practices, creation, enhancement, and facilitation of market opportunities for farmers’ organic produce. FPC expands economic opportunities through fostering organic certification, market-relevant skills training, mentorship, and access to financial services and linkages. The Centre supports farmer-led research, collects evidence, develops scalable and sustainable locally relevant agriculture, green technologies and innovations. FPC premises a 42-hectare training site that offers research, practical and innovative trials for agroecological land-use systems. Fambidzanai is affiliated with the Bindura University of Science Education and offers a 3-year Agroecology Diploma programme aimed at expanding agricultural extension workers’ capacity to bring custom-made solutions that sustainably mend and revive agricultural production in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. Mission Statement A Resource Centre for Permaculture and other Sustainable Technologies.
