THE MOZAMBICAN DEBT GROUP (GMD) is an association/platform of collective entities and individuals, legally established in 1996 to discuss and advocate sustainable solutions for poverty eradication, promotion of development, transparency, accountability, and management of public debt and public resources. The GMD is currently headquartered in Maputo City, coordinated by the Executive Secretariat, and is present throughout the country through Provincial Centres (NPs). Vision GMD is inspired by the vision of "A society that actively participates in efforts to reduce poverty and promote good governance for fair and sustainable socio-economic development. Mission GMD's mission is to ‘promote reflection on issues relating to the balanced economic and social development of the country, both by contributing to the design of strategies and policies for poverty eradication and by seeking to generate synergies with other segments of society with a view to improving the management of revenue from public resources and eliminating factors of dependency’. Values Equity and Justice – Advocates for the fair distribution of resources, fiscal justice and inclusive development. Integrity and Accountability – Demands transparency in debt management and public spending. Collaboration and Empowerment – Promotes participatory dialogue and grassroots-led solutions.

GMD wants to join the movement as a strategic partner, aligned with the vision of active participation in poverty reduction and good governance. It brings experience in policy analysis, advocacy and monitoring, with a focus on public debt, tax justice, aid effectiveness and priority sectors, incorporating gender, HIV/AIDS and climate. It will contribute regular analyses and mobilise its experience in observatories and institutional relations to enhance the movement's dialogue and decisions.
