Independent (Joseph Faluyi)

I am a Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos and an emerging social impact storyteller passionate about using media as a tool for societal transformation. My work sits at the intersection of communication, youth engagement, and sustainable development, with a focus on shaping narratives that influence behavior and drive collective action. Over time, I have been actively involved in initiatives that promote awareness and community engagement, particularly in areas such as environmental sustainability and social responsibility. My current focus includes a waste management project aimed at improving community awareness in Lagos, advocating for better environmental practices, and exploring how digital tools and storytelling can encourage more responsible waste disposal habits among young people. Beyond project work, I am deeply interested in how media influences identity, culture, and public perception. Through academic research, writing, and participation in collaborative programs, I continue to explore how communication can be leveraged to address complex social challenges and inspire change at scale. My mission is to use storytelling, media, and strategic communication to amplify underrepresented voices, shift societal narratives, and contribute to solutions that address pressing global challenges. I am particularly driven by the belief that young people are not just beneficiaries of change, but active agents in shaping more sustainable and inclusive futures. My vision is to become a leading voice in development communication, building platforms and initiatives that connect ideas, people, and communities across borders, while contributing to systemic change through innovation, collaboration, and impactful storytelling.
