Savy Amira is an organization dedicated to supporting women and children by providing free psychological and legal services to survivors of violence. We serve individuals who often face barriers in accessing government services, including those who wish to remain anonymous in official records, as well as members of marginalized communities, such as individuals with nonconforming gender identities and sexual orientations. In addition, we also serve the community, groups of women with a history of violence, as well as marginalised youth with mental health challenges, to identify their strengths and empower them with dignity and concern for biodiversity, the connectedness of humans with their physical, natural, and social environments. Our work is grounded in research-based approaches and community-led development programs focused on the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). We are actively involved in both the ASEAN and national Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) networks, as well as the national alliance of GBV survivor service providers. Savy Amira is one of the referral organizations to respond to violence incidents for the National Commission for Violence against Women in Surabaya and the surrounding areas. Over the past three years, we have established partnerships with government education agencies and universities to strengthen violence prevention systems in schools and to create support groups for students affected by parental divorce. In empowering our fellow survivors, we have applied several non-conventional methods, such as combining the process of healing with gardening, dancing, art therapy, and play therapy. All of the processes applied were assisted by psychologists.
