Independent (Yahya Qayum)
As a law student, Global Youth Ambassador for Theirworld, and an active member of YOUNGO, I am deeply committed to addressing climate change and its far-reaching impacts, especially on children. Climate change exacerbates human rights violations, disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities by limiting access to education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods. I firmly believe that education is pivotal in combating these challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My work as a volunteer teacher for children with special needs has allowed me to spread awareness about climate change and its impacts, empowering the next generation to act as agents of change. Through this, I have witnessed firsthand how education fosters resilience, inclusivity, and understanding—elements crucial for advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education). Climate change’s implications also intersect with SDG 5 (Gender Equality), as women and girls often face heightened vulnerabilities due to its effects, which further motivates me to advocate for equitable solutions. My engagement in international climate forums has deepened my understanding of the connections between SDG 13 (Climate Action) and other goals like SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), as the climate crisis fuels inequities and conflicts globally. Looking forward, I aim to leverage my legal expertise and advocacy skills to design and promote policies that address climate change, ensure access to education, and protect fundamental rights. My aspiration to study and implement sustainable practices aligns with my commitment to fostering global collaboration, encouraging youth participation, and driving systemic change. By bridging my legal background with my passion for sustainability, I seek to contribute to a world where every child has access to quality education, climate justice is achieved, and the SDGs are realized. I am dedicated to this journey of creating a more equitable and sustainable future, where collective efforts lead to transformative change.
