Independent (Zhanat Karatay)

I am Zhanat Karatay, founder of Pioneer Inclusive Mountain Resort in Kazakhstan and a social entrepreneur working at the intersection of autism, inclusion, and systemic change. Pioneer began with my son. When he was diagnosed with autism, we were told to expect very little. Instead of accepting that, my family built something different: a nature-based rehabilitation and inclusion program in the mountains near Almaty. Over more than a decade it has grown into a full ecosystem, serving over 1,000 children with autism and developmental differences every year through rehabilitation, education, vocational integration, and a communication methodology I developed and patented. My work reaches beyond the resort. I advocate at the national level for inclusive education and dignified employment for neurodivergent people, build programs that schools and employers can actually use, and am now bringing the Pioneer model to the United States. This work has been recognized through a TEDx talk, a World Bank grant, a national patent, and peer-reviewed research. My mission is to give every neurodivergent person, and their family, a real path to inclusion: not pity or isolation, but rehabilitation, learning, work, and belonging. My vision is a world where inclusion is built into systems rather than left to individual families to fight for, and where local solutions like Pioneer are connected, resourced, and scaled across borders. I joined Catalyst Now to find collaborators who share that conviction and to build inclusion that lasts.

I want to connect with social innovators beyond my region and learn how local solutions scale across borders. I bring over a decade building an inclusive ecosystem for children with autism in Kazakhstan — rehabilitation, education, employment — and I'm glad to share this methodology, host conversations, and collaborate on inclusion projects. From the community I'm looking for peers, cross-regional learning, and partners as I expand the Pioneer model internationally, including to the US.
