Instituto Suel Abujamra

Caio Abujamra is a Brazilian entrepreneur and social impact leader, serving as President of the Instituto Suel Abujamra (ISA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to eye care across Brazil. His work focuses on bridging gaps between the public health system (SUS), private sector innovation, and third-sector initiatives to deliver scalable and sustainable healthcare solutions. Under his leadership, ISA has developed and implemented programs that combine technology, medical expertise, and social impact to reach underserved populations, including remote and indigenous communities. Through initiatives such as teleophthalmology, mobile care units, and strategic partnerships with global institutions and corporations, Caio works to democratize access to vision care and reduce preventable blindness. The mission of ISA is to provide accessible, high-quality eye care to populations in need, strengthening public health systems and promoting equity in healthcare. Its vision is to become a global reference in scalable, technology-driven solutions for visual health, contributing to a future where preventable visual impairment is eliminated. Caio’s broader vision is to build integrated ecosystems that connect healthcare, education, and innovation, fostering long-term impact and systemic change. Through collaborations across sectors, he seeks to redefine how healthcare is delivered, making it more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable.

We are joining the community to both contribute and learn. We bring experience in centralized and decentralized eye care delivery, and aim to share our learnings and challenges. At the same time, we seek support to overcome current barriers, exchange knowledge, and strengthen awareness and advocacy, as vision care is key to human development, with 80% of external perception happening through the eyes.
