MR Foundation

MR (“Mhlanga-Rikhotso”) Foundation is a CIPC–registered non-profit company jointly founded by Dr. Sthembiso Mhlanga and Mr. Prayer Rikhotso, two University of Cape Town Alumni, focusing on Youth & Educational Programs. MR Foundation is approved as public benefit organisation, thus we issue section 18A certificates for donations that support our programs. The two founders emerged from humble beginnings and broke the chains of extreme destitution through education and personal leadership. Inspired by their shared passion for education and common purpose to uplift the youth, they established this MR Foundation to be the Lighthouse of Hope and Inspiration to structurally excluded youth of South Africa. The Foundation aims to raise empowered community leaders who are beacons of hope and inspiration to society; equip change leaders, destiny shapers and good role models to uplift their communities out of abject poverty.

I believe that effective and sustainable paradigm shift will take more than good intentions and will require decisive efforts to build stronger and interconnected ecosystem of social entrepreneurs that champion social justice at grassroots level, not just advocacy within the boardroom. For this reason, we established MR Foundation as that grassroots engine for social justice that is grounded on and community-based, to maximize the social impact for greater good.
