Nairoun Community Development Initiative (NCDI)

Nairoun Community Development Initiative (NCDI) is a locally led, women-focused non-governmental organization working to improve the lives of vulnerable women, girls, and communities affected by poverty, conflict, and displacement. Our work focuses on gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, women’s empowerment, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), community health, and education, with a strong emphasis on locally driven solutions. NCDI addresses critical needs including limited access to education and livelihood opportunities for women and girls, high levels of GBV, unsafe water and sanitation, poor health outcomes, and weak community awareness and protection systems. These challenges disproportionately affect women and girls and undermine community resilience and development.

My motivation to join the Catalyst Now community stems from a strong commitment to locally led development, equitable partnerships, and systemic change in humanitarian and development action. As a local, women-led organization working in South Sudan and Sudan, we operate in complex, fragile contexts where local actors are often closest to the needs but farthest from decision-making power and resources.
