Omena Inc (Omena Movement)

Omena is ending the intergenerational trauma caused by emotional abuse by providing skills-based social-emotional education to children and young adults. Currently operating in Madagascar, through integration into the school curriculum, social and traditional media campaigns, and trauma-informed training, Omena’s mental health preventative, evidence-based approach aims to break the cycle of abuse before it can be repeated. By empowering survivors to heal and educate about abuse, Omena aims to create a generation of cycle-breakers who possess greater self-esteem, inner strength, and healthy relationship skills. Omena’s vision is to create a resilient future for communities by driving positive change through the power of mental and emotional well-being.

Omena is breaking the cycle of emotional abuse through preventive, evidence-based social-emotional education and community support. Our work in Madagascar improves mental health, building resilient communities and fostering economic empowerment. By training community educators, we empower young people to build healthier relationships and increase self-esteem, creating lasting, positive change. We aim to share our approach with the Catalyste 2030 community to address this global issue together.
