Philantropics

As a Brazilian social scientist, researcher, and entrepreneur based in the UAE, I bring a Global South perspective and 20 years of cross-sector experience in Latin America, Africa, Europe, and now the Middle East. My background in Global Politics (LSE) and Development Studies (ISS – Erasmus University Rotterdam), along with my doctoral research on scaling social enterprises in the Global South, informs a systems-oriented and critical approach to philanthropy. I am particularly committed to strengthening South–South collaboration and ensuring that philanthropic capital supports locally led solutions with long-term transformative potential. In 2024 I Co-Founded of Philantropics, a Dubai-based strategic philanthropy advisory that supports philanthropists and purpose-driven investors in designing intentional giving journeys and connecting with high-impact organizations across the Global South, with a special focus on Latin America and Southern Africa. Philantropics' services range from cause mapping and partner vetting to Theory of Change development, impact measurement frameworks, and long-term strategic planning. We also support donors in structuring governance models, learning journeys, and collaborative platforms that strengthen alignment between values, strategy, and impact. Our mission is to foster a culture of strategic giving that moves beyond charity or transactional donations toward trust-based, informed, and context-sensitive philanthropy. We aim to amplify innovative solutions emerging from the Global South while building transparency and confidence for donors and long-term institutional sustainability for organizations doing transformative work on the ground. We believe that scaling impact requires more than capital; it requires networks, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of local ecosystems. By bridging philanthropists, practitioners, and knowledge platforms across regions, Philantropics aims to contribute to a more connected, learning-oriented global philanthropy ecosystem. Our vision is a world where philanthropy strengthens systems, supports community-led solutions, catalyzing sustainable social and environmental transformation.

My motivation to join Catalyst Now is to engage in meaningful collaboration with peers working on systems change across regions. Through Philantropics, we bridge philanthropists in the GCC with locally led organizations in the Global South, and I see strong potential for South–South learning and partnership. I hope to both contribute insights from strategic philanthropy practice and learn from the community.
