TechFlow Afrika

We are TechFlow Afrika, a South Africa–based education innovation organization that designs and delivers scalable, evidence-informed solutions to improve foundational learning outcomes across Africa. We work at the intersection of education, technology, teacher development, and systems strengthening, with a strong focus on strengthening literacy, numeracy, and school readiness in under-resourced communities. Our work is guided by a strong Theory of Change approach, ensuring that our interventions are aligned to measurable outcomes, continuous learning, and sustainable systems impact. We were established in response to persistent challenges in learning quality, teacher support, and equitable access to effective instructional resources. We partner closely with schools, government departments, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen classroom practice, build institutional capacity, and embed innovation within existing education systems rather than creating parallel structures. This approach promotes ownership, scalability, and long-term sustainability. Our Team and Expertise We are co-founded and led by experienced education practitioners with deep expertise in early childhood development, mathematics education, curriculum design, teacher professional development, educational technology, project management, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL). Our leadership team has extensive experience working across public education systems, donor-funded programs, and international education initiatives, bringing both technical depth and strong implementation capability. Our team has contributed to education programs in partnership with organizations such as the Africa Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET), international exchange programs in the United States, and regional initiatives in Rwanda and Ghana. Our leadership has also received national recognition for excellence in education innovation, including the Mail & Guardian Power of Women in Education award. We work with multidisciplinary teams of facilitators, instructional coaches, researchers, and digital learning specialists who ensure high-quality delivery, strong stakeholder engagement, and data-driven improvement. We prioritize continuous professional development, reflective practice, and adaptive management to maintain quality and relevance across diverse operating contexts. Our Work We deliver integrated education programs that strengthen teaching practice and learner outcomes. Our core areas of work include teacher professional development through coaching, classroom observation, mentoring, and instructional improvement; early learning and school readiness initiatives that promote inclusive, play-based, and developmentally appropriate learning environments; and the design of practical, low-cost educational technology solutions that support teacher effectiveness and learner engagement. We also develop monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems that strengthen accountability, track learner progress, and inform continuous program improvement. A key focus of our work is systems strengthening and institutionalization, where we support partners to embed successful models into government systems, school management practices, and local capacity structures to enable sustainability and scale. Countries and Communities We Serve Our primary operational base is South Africa, where we work directly with schools, educators, and district partners. We have also implemented and supported education initiatives in Rwanda and Ghana, and we actively participate in regional collaborations that promote learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the African education ecosystem. Across all contexts, we prioritize underserved communities, equity, and inclusive education, contributing to improved learning opportunities and stronger education systems.
