WESHARE Child Foundation International
“Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.” –Howard Zinn
For the past 5 years, we purposed to found one of the life changing foundations; WESHARE-Uganda Child Foundation, a charitable and a not-for profit organisation. Our 5 years of community service have been defined by our remarkable holistic work, making a sound difference through; Education, Health, Economic empowerment programs as well as embracing spiritual stewardship in various communities. Vulnerable children and adolescents living in slum settlements of Kajjansi town, Wakiso district have been the heart of our mission. Our greatest call and sole vision is envisioning a future where children not only survive but thrive into resourceful citizens of our nation and the world at large, with our sole objective of being faithful stewards of hope and restoration in lives of a thousand vulnerable children, orphans, children living with HIV/AIDs, teenage mothers as well as single mothers. With an upper hand of dedicated, committed professional and non-professional players; of whom, many of them being volunteer players and have accustomed to our vision of raising a healthy generation of young people; their attributes are a pillar of strength to our vision of being faithful stewards, they have chosen to dedicate quality time; being our lovely ambassadors, sharing our cause as well as realizing the sound difference we desire to see in the communities. We would not have moved successful milestones or left smiles or healed lives if it wasn’t by their touch, their thoughts as well as their love. Their unwavering commitment, generosity and love to WESHARE Child Foundation is the reason behind the successful stories of our programs.
Through addressing the sustainable development goal, SDG-3; Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, our foundation is involved in a couple of health promotion programs including; sexual and reproductive health Education awareness programs in communities where young people are mostly based; that is the schools and the communities where our tailored programs have reached out to over 5000 young people.
One analysis of primary school enrollment and completion rates indicates 3,100 pupils drop out of school daily (according to Daily monitor). Our Advocacy Education Program works to reduce the number of school drop-outs; educating communities on the value of an educated child as well as mobilizing resources, ensuring that vulnerable children can have an opportunity for education for a better future (tackling SDG 4; Quality Education).
Having grounded our work and resources amongst young people for the past 5 years, we have noted that the challenges faced under adolescent health, are an eye opener and a call for us not to sit back but to envision what the future of our nation and the world will be, if we continue to advocate for a dedication of increased resources as well as better policies that are protective and prioritizing adolescents and young people.
