Yeshitla Matewos (Independent)

I am a psychologist, youth development practitioner, and community engagement professional with extensive experience in education, psychosocial support, HIV prevention, and youth empowerment programs. I have worked with schools, communities, and international organizations to support vulnerable children, adolescents, and young people through training, counseling, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives. My mission is to empower young people and marginalized communities to realize their potential through education, mental health support, life skills development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. I am committed to creating inclusive environments where individuals can build resilience, confidence, and the skills needed to lead productive lives. My vision is to contribute to a society where every young person has access to quality psychosocial support, education, leadership opportunities, and economic empowerment regardless of their background. Through collaboration, innovation, and community-driven approaches, I strive to promote positive social change and improve the well-being of individuals and communities. My work has included serving as a Guidance and Counseling Officer, HIV Service Officer, Community Outreach Worker, Youth Center Coordinator, Youth Trainer, and Psychosocial Support Officer. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to supporting personal growth, social inclusion, and community development.

My motivation to be part of Catalyst Now is to connect with a global community of changemakers, learn from diverse experiences, and contribute my knowledge and practical experience in youth empowerment, psychosocial support, education, community engagement, and social impact. I believe meaningful and sustainable change is achieved through collaboration, shared learning, and collective action. I want to use the Catalyst Now community to strengthen my social impact work, develop innovative solutions to community challenges, build partnerships, and contribute to initiatives that empower young people and marginalized communities. I also hope to learn from other members, access mentorship and collaboration opportunities, and expand my capacity to turn local ideas into sustainable and scalable solutions. I see Catalyst Now as an opportunity not only to grow personally and professionally, but also to contribute to a global movement working toward inclusive and lasting social change.
